One Apple A Day #802 - the process
I had a few great teachers in my school years. They are the ones who inspired my love for learning new stuff.
My math teacher in my last years of high school was a grumpy man. With his big beard and his gruff ways of talking to the class, he was the bogeyman of the class. However, under that appearance, there was a kind human being who loved his craft. To me, his teachings have been and still are fundamentals. Not math per se, but he taught me the beauty of logical thinking, of connecting thoughts and ideas to carve my way out of a problem.
I remember that he used to say that he didn't care about the results, he wanted us to focus on how to get there.
You can get the results right by chance or even following the wrong path. What really mattered for him was how we got there, our thinking process.
Sometimes I feel we are so focused on the results, on the outcome that we forget that the real learning is in the process. We make it about the destination, and we overlook the journey.
So, today I want to say thank you to him for teaching me the beauty of the journey and the power of the process.
