For the same dictionary, a belief is "an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof". I grew up learning that trust must be earned. That I have to prove to others that I'm worth of their trust. Though, according to the dictionary trust is the belief that something is true. And a belief doesn't require proof.
