My legs are sore. My thighs are begging me to stop, here and now. Just stop. I can feel the tickle on my right heel announcing a new blister on the way. My heart rate is over the redline, but I can’t shift to an upper gear. I know that I should watch upward, but I’m too busy watching my steps. And to be honest, I don’t want to watch up. Most of the time I can see only rocks, only twice I’ve been able to spot the wooden top of the refuge, and it reminded me of the long way ahead.
