Who or what defined the norms?

Who or what decided that things should be in specific ways?
How many norms and standards do we accept as a given without asking if they make sense at all? Are they routed in reality, or are they just inherited beliefs?

But do we ever check if they still serve us for real? If they allow us to shine in all our unique beauty?
