What can I do, here and now, to love myself more?
What a magical conversation I had yesterday. Thanks to my friend Mark, a little group gathered to explore the tension between the need to measure the impact of our doing and the desire to use our gifts unconditionally.
As Mark wrote, introducing the conversation, "Some things simply cannot be measured, yet we know the impact is real."
A parent's love is a beautiful example. When parents act out of love, they do it without measure, without expecting anything in return, not even to be understood.
Throughout our collective exploration, I realized that when I work from a state of love, I'm not concerned with measures and return. And almost invariably, I create my best works.
However, I am not in that state of love all the time. I'd love to, but I can't. My physical, mental and emotional well-being and external circumstances influence my ability to be in that state.
I am human.
However, I've learned that the very moments I feel I'm not doing from a state of love are the ones in which I have to love myself more.
So, here's a question to help me return to that creative state with kindness and compassion.
What can I do, here and now, to love myself more?
