You know what to change, but you don't do it. Sounds familiar?
Understanding is a fundamental and powerful ability. It allows a person to interpret what is happening and to discern the meaning of words, things and events. To understand something is to have a clear and accurate mental grasp of it. When you understand something, you can explain it in your own words, apply it to new situations, and see how it fits into a larger context.
It is indeed a powerful ability.
However, understanding is not enough when it comes to changing and evolving yourself. There's a gap between understanding what you need to change and actually doing it.
In particular, if your understanding is primarily intellectual. Sure, you can explain it in terms of concepts and theories. But that's not enough.
I know it because I've always been quite good at understanding things. Yet, I struggled to transform that understanding into actual change in my life. Even worse, sometimes, understanding got in the way of me changing because it was rewarding enough to end the process.
I've learned that I must also connect with things emotionally and sense them intuitively. And then, I must embody the change that I want to manifest. Understanding is a great starting point. But it is not enough if you want to innovate yourself.
