I've witnessed many changes leading to nothing.
That's because we often change things around us without changing our minds. Even worse, sometimes we change things on the outside to avoid, consciously or unconsciously, changing inside.
I've seen it happening in people and in organizations. I personally did that countless times.
We want something different but don't dare challenge our beliefs and assumptions. So, we change things around. And for a while, it works. Until things return to how they were, and we find ourselves in the same situation we thought we had left behind.
People change jobs, cities or partners to fix their lives, only to recreate the same problems they were running from in their new contexts. Organizations restructure and reorganize to solve their problems, only to face precisely the same issues a little later, just in a slightly different form.
There is no progress if we don't change our minds by challenging the stories and beliefs that shape our reality.
Changing our thinking is complex, uncomfortable and often unpredictable. It requires us to step into the unknown and push through confusion and messiness for an uncertain outcome. However, those who accept the challenge are rewarded with meaningful progress.
Yourself. But by being aware and courageous enough, you can move towards a state where your real self predominates not the fake, conditioned, egoic self that shouts so loud. In that inner change of emphasis lies freedom, joy, love.
