There is hope in man, not in society, not in systems, organized religious systems, but in you, and in me. — Jiddu Krishnamurti
What can I do in such troubled times?
The news is a continuous parade of pain, suffering, violence, hatred, abuse and misery.
It is so easy to feel powerless before all that.
Yet, I have hope.
Someone asked me where I find hope when everything seems broken.
I couldn't say it better than the great Krishnamurti.
There is hope in people. In you and me.
His reflection, taken from his 3rd Public Talk in Madras in November 1947, goes on as follows.
I think this is fairly obvious. We must try to know what is happening in the world and not merely accept a formula, a system because there is no hope in them. So it is very important to realize the relationship between the individual and society. Is not society the result of one individual's relationship with another? Your relationship with another creates the society which in turn brings into being the State. The State by itself is not a separate entity. It is the outcome of your relationship with others. So it is from society that State comes into being.
So, here's what I do.
I love.
I hope.
And I nurture my relationships, because they are the seeds from which society is born.
