Twice in the last two days, I came across the expression "little people".
Both times, it was used to talk about the people who work behind the scenes, who make things happen within institutions of all sorts, whose work is often not praised, and who end up on the news only when bad things happen.
I get it.
Heroes and heroines are way more fascinating.
How not to love someone who turns things upside down and saves everyone thanks to their bravery and innate intelligence?
They are the ones who end up in our tales and history books.
How often do we say that our society "stands on the shoulders of giants" to acknowledge that what we have achieved is all thanks to the work of a few significant thinkers and leaders who have gone before?
Yet, those giants would not have been so if it weren't for many "little people", from those who fed them to the ones who made their ideas a reality.
There are no "little people" or giants.
There are only people with their situations, choices and actions.
"Nothing, no one, is too small to matter. What you do is going to make a difference." — Madeleine L'Engle
Ci vedo tanti spunti e riflessioni. La gratitudine e il riconoscimento di quello che ho, anche in termini di servizi e infrastrutture, arriva a loro. Uomini che si vedono poco, se ne parla poco e che mantengono in piedi la società.
