Disciples asked their Zen Master: "Master, you look like us, talk like us, eat like us, put your pants on one leg at a time like us, then what makes you a master? Why do they call you a master?"
The Master said: "Because I can see the mighty oak tree in an acorn, the soaring eagle in an egg, and the wise sage in a baby, they call me a master."
I read this story from Amit Goswami, a theoretical quantum physicist and quantum activist. If I look back to the people who made a difference in my evolution as a person, the ones I would call teachers or mentors, they were all different, yet they all share one thing: they saw possibilities in me.
Possibilities that often I was not able to see myself. But the simple fact that they were there for me made me believe and, with their help and guidance, see those possibilities and take the steps I needed to manifest them.
To help someone grow and evolve beyond their current situations, you must see the infinite possibilities that they carry within them. You must see the mighty oak tree in an acorn.
To develop this capacity, you must learn to see and manifest your own possibilities.
That's why everyone needs a mentor in their life.
