The first word is the hardest. That blank page stares back at you, both invitation and challenge. Where do I start? What do I write about? Is this better than that? Questions pour into your mind while the whiteness remains untouched.
After years and thousands of words written, I should be immune to the blank page's spell. Yet every morning, that first word remains the hardest. The second comes easier. And so on, until suddenly the spell breaks and words flow, the story unfolding before my eyes as if it had been waiting there all along.
It's the universal truth of every new beginning. The first step isn't physically harder. It's identical to all that follow. Yet, it carries the weight of possibility and doubt. Your legs stiffen, your feet grow heavy, your mind floods with questions. But once taken, that step creates momentum. The second follows, still challenging but less so, until gradually, the path reveals itself, and your stride becomes confident.
Yet, that first step will always be the hardest.
Every journey you've completed began with that difficult first step. Every story you love started with a struggling first word. Whatever beautiful future awaits you now stands on the other side of that same beginning.
Today, I wish for us both the courage to write that first word, take that first step, make that first choice that opens our next chapter.
Remember, if the path doesn't feel right after walking it awhile, you always have the power to write a new first word. The blank page isn't your enemy; it's your opportunity to begin again.
Thank you
