You are what you are now. Start from there.—Krishnamurti
How many times have you postponed your dreams because you weren't "ready yet"?
It's so easy to get trapped in the endless preparation to change or do. We create elaborate conditions that must be met before we can begin:
"When I have more money, I'll start that project."
"Once I feel more confident, I'll apply for that position."
"If only I had more time, I could write that book."
"After I learn that new shiny thing, then I'll..."
And the worst of them all: "If only I were different."
Me? I've said these things too often. And I still do, honestly.
What I've learned is that whenever I focus on what I'm not or don't have, I'm simply moving the starting line further away. It becomes the perfect excuse to avoid acting now.
The simple truth is this: I am what I am now. I am where I am now.
That's it. And I will remain the same person in the same place if I don't do something. If I don't start.
Because, again, using Krishnamurti's words, "unless you change now the future, tomorrow is what you are now."
You are what you are now. Start from there.
So today, what small step will you take from exactly where you are?
