I randomly came upon a video in which Sadhguru talks with a group of American influencers. It was a clickbait title, which usually would make me skip the content, but this time, I was bored and watched it.
And right at the end of the video, Sadhguru shared something that resonated profoundly with me, so I saved the video to return to it this morning.
He says that life is a combination of two things: a certain amount of time and a certain amount of energy. Time is rolling away. It doesn't stop for any of us, so you can't manage it. So, of these two ingredients, time and energy, we can only manage the latter.
That's a fascinating perspective. How often do I focus on the time instead of how I use my energy in the time I have? And anytime I do that, I waste both time and energy.
But it didn't stop there. Sadhguru also shares two ways in which we should use our energy: to make our experience of life profound and to make our activities impactful.
We should first and foremost focus on becoming profound in our experience of life because then we will always impact people for the best. But if we live on the surface and try to impact people, we may do good things, but we may also do terrible things to people. Maybe with the best intentions, but still, we harm others.
That profoundness in life experience can only be found through subtraction.
