One Apple A Day #965 - let go of the "should"
Some days, when I'm preparing for my morning writing practice, my mind is blank or lost in two many streams. In both cases, the outcome is the same: I'm stuck and unable to write a single word.
When I end up there, the BeTheChage cards are usually my lifeline. I pick a card, and something happens.
This morning I found this question in the text that comes with the card that I picked.
What might happen if you let go of your grip on how you think things "should" be for a moment?
I began to think about the "should" in my life, and I felt the energy dropping. Behind a "should", there is often a limiting belief that hinders the flow of my creativity. Some are big, some are small, but they all have an impact, like the fact that I should write something worth it every morning.
Who said that? Where is this should coming from?
In the end, this is my creative practice—something I do to keep my flow going. Every time I begin to worry about the outcome that I should produce, I get stuck.
If I let go of that thought for a moment, words emerge, and I feel lighter.
And voilà, this post is born.
Thank you, Vanessa, for the question.
