One Apple A Day #962 - I don't have to win all the points
This weekend, I discover that the ten best tennis players in the world lose almost half the points they play. People like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer lose 46% of the points played. Yet, they win nearly all matches they play.
If you're passionate about tennis, these data are probably well known, but for me - I just like to watch a match every now and then - these numbers were surprising. I thought they were winning way more points than anyone else. Fognini, the number ten on the list, wins 50.33% of his points. Lopez, the first player outside the top ten, wins 49.79% of them. A marginal difference that makes all the difference in the world.
It's a good reminder that sometimes, we don't need much to tip the scale in our life.
I remember a few times in my life when I didn't start something because I thought I would never be good enough to make a difference. Or all the time that I quit after some failures.
That's a good lesson for today; whatever match I'm playing, I don't have to win all the points. Even better, I can manage to lose almost half of them. As long as I keep striving for my dreams.
