One Apple A Day #960 - disengage
My dear friend and archer Stefano taught me that if we keep the bow always engaged and in tension, we may end up wearing it out and compromising its power.
I am no expert on the matter, but I guess it's what happens to anything elastic if kept under continuous tension.
I experienced something similar riding a motorbike. In the beginning, I was very tense, and it didn't take much time before I was aching everywhere. When I got used to it and I began to relax, it became less tiring. I could go on for longer without too much effort.
I've been experiencing something similar lately. Some days, I just feel exhausted, even if I can't remember doing anything particularly heavy or intense.
I believe I'm experiencing the same thing that happens to the bow under continuous tension. Due to the current situation that has reduced the possibilities to move around and have an active social life, I never really and fully disengage. I'm always thinking about the things I have to do, the task I have to complete, the pieces I want to write and so on. I'm under a low intensity but relentless tension. One that doesn't seem much at any specific moment but that can wear you out over time.
So my next goal is to create a new habit of fully disengaging regularly.
