One Apple A Day #958 - time for a new era?
There is no shortage of smartness in the world.
Since the introduction of the first IQ tests over a century ago, it looks like we keep getting cleverer.
Plus, we have easy access to an infinite amount of information and knowledge. We live in the Information Age, a historical period that began in the mid-20th century, based on storing and processing information.
But are we getting wiser?
I grew up thinking that by knowing and understanding more, I would always make the right choices. And I would be happier and fulfilled.
Knowledge is power, isn't it?
It may still be valid. However, I've learned that what really makes the difference is what I use that power for. How I do actualize it.
Knowing more is not enough.
Being clever is not enough.
We must look somewhere else.
All historical periods are finite.
I feel we are getting closer to the edge of the Information Age, and a new period is beginning to surface.
One that is based not on what and how much we know but on who and how much we are. One that focuses on presence and awareness.
