One Apple A Day #944 - Do you celebrate?
Do you celebrate your achievements?
I hope so because celebrations are important.
Though, I must confess that I'm terrible at it.
I don't know why, but I really struggle with celebrations.
My first thought when I achieve a goal is, "ok, what's next?"
I tried many times to find a solution to this because I'm well aware of the importance of celebrating our results, but I haven't cracked it yet.
Since I can remember, what motivates me is the challenge, not the outcome. I find more pleasure in the struggle of the process than in the beauty of the result.
Maybe that's why I can't celebrate.
Who knows, human beings can be so messy and complicated.
Anyway, realising this for me has been very important.
The most common strategy to motivate someone to do something focuses on the outcome or the reward at the end of the process. People are usually motivated by a meaningful reward. The more it is significant to them, the higher the motivation to push through the journey to achieve it.
If you're like me, then you know that this strategy doesn't work. What motivates me is the process itself. It's the challenge, the work, the growth that comes with it that spark my energy.
All of this to say that I may need some external support when it comes to celebration.
