One Apple A Day #918 - social impact
A social business is one that is aimed at addressing a social cause.
Social innovations are practices that aim to meet social needs.
And so on for many other activities or initiatives.
There are typical definitions you can find online.
Initiatives become "social" when they are driven by the desire to create a social impact.
But isn't any human activity having an impact on society?
Every business creates a social impact. So does every innovation.
We are all interconnected.
Everything we do has an impact that goes beyond what we can measure or even imagine.
Every choice we make has an impact on society.
It's up to us to decide what impact we want to have.
We can't take ourselves out of this game.
Labelling something as "social" is a way to elude our responsibility.
To say that it's the role of someone else to solve the challenges of our society. But that's just a lie we tell ourselves.
We are all in it.
We are all part of society.
Everything we do has a social impact.
Every business is social business.
Every innovation is social innovation.
So the question is, what impact do you want to have?
