One Apple A Day #907 - it's natural
"In the race, I think I entered a sort of bubble, a magical area, where everything came naturally to me."
Morbidelli, an Italian MotoGP rider, used these words to describe how he felt during a race he won by margin last year.
Many athletes describe being in the zone or the flow state, as Mihály Csíkszentmihályi named it in 1975.
I find it fascinating that they all say that everything comes naturally to them when they are in that state.
When something is natural to us, it means that it is aligned with our nature. When we feel that something is natural and experience that sense of ease in doing it, we are no more "doing". We are just "being" ourselves.
It is as if the more the distance between our essence and our actions, the more effort we have to put in it to close the gap.
However, when that distance dissolves, then no effort is needed.
Every part of us knows what to do.
It's natural.
To know our true nature, we must pay attention to all those moments when we experience this ease in doing something. When things come naturally to us.
