One Apple A Day #906 - We can build a new tomorrow, Today
"We can build a new tomorrow. Today."
I loved this line since the first time I heard it. It comes from the song Speak in tongues by Placebo.
Yesterday in one of my walking conversation with Luca, I heard Brian Molko singing these words in my head.
We were talking about vision and leadership.
But also about the importance of taking action towards that vision.
And we can only act in the here and now.
Where we are. Today.
I believe that to make things happen, both are needed; a compelling vision for tomorrow and the will to do the work today.
If I have the vision, but I don't do the work today, all I have is a dream with no substance.
If I am great at doing the work, but I have no vision, I can easily get trapped in the daily routine, repeating my life over and over.
I need both to move forward.
The cool news is that I don't need to have both in me.
I can decide to put my ability to do the work in service of someone else vision. Or I can share my vision with others, so someone great at doing the work may decide to join me.
What's important is to never forget that today is my best option to build a new tomorrow.
