One Apple A Day #864 - Forgiveness
I've read that "resentment is like drinking a poison and then waiting for the other person to die."
From your soul, it slowly spreads through your system, compromising all parts of you.
Forgiveness is like a cleanse for your soul. A force that purges your system from the poison that weakens it and gives you back strength and light.
Forgiveness is an internal process. It is not about the person who hurt or failed you. It is a shift, a transformation that happens within you. So, anytime you forgive someone, your whole world changes.
It is not easy, however. At least, this is my experience.
Sometimes I mistook forgetting for forgiving. I thought I moved past something only to see that resentment coming back later in my life.
In particular, when the one to forgive is me.
