One Apple A Day #856 - Social Intelligence
In our hyper-connected world, social intelligence is, indeed, a crucial strength. There's plenty of literature on the subject. As human beings, we are a social species, and we have always relied on cooperation to survive and thrive. Our ability, or lack of it, to interact and cooperate with others, has been studied by many disciplines.
A quick search on Google can give you access to more knowledge than you can probably handle.
For sure more than what I can handle. I got lost in all this knowledge, and I consumed the first ten minutes of my morning slot just to figure out that I was wasting my precious writing time.
So, I took a deep breath, and a thought came up.
If we are a social species, if we are naturally drawn to cooperation, then how comes that there so many tensions and conflicts around?
I'm not talking about the big ones. I'm talking about the small ones going on any minute in our daily life.
With social media being the favourite battleground.
I feel like the needle is leaning more toward competition than cooperation.
I believe we are social species and that social intelligence is one of the many intelligences of human beings.
However, social intelligence is just a tool, neither good nor bad. It's the intention when we use it that makes all the difference in the world.
We can use our social intelligence to prevails on others, or we can use it to serve others.
