One Apple A Day #84
“When you come to the last page, close the book” — Mr Wu
Today we are writing the last page of a book titled “Our adventure in Kuwait”.
It has been an unusual and wonderful ride. We moved to Kuwait City only one year ago. It’s incredible how our emotions can expand or compress time. In this case, I feel like I lived in this city for years. My previous life in London seems so far in the past. I arrived here without an idea of what it would be. Yeah, maybe I was expecting it to be a bit more like Dubai, but it’s not, and I’m happy about that. It’s a country filled with contradictions and with walls that can make a newly arrived feels unaccepted. But if you keep your mind open and curious, you will discover a rich and genuinely human world behind those walls. We’ve been blessed with the friendship of amazing people. Maybe because most of the people here come from abroad, there is a natural tendency to connect. We are all far from our homes, and we all desire to belong. We built bonds with people from everywhere: Kuwait, Italy, France, Spain, England, Scotland, USA, Hungary, Philippine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Argentina, and others I don’t remember. I’ve learned something from everyone. They helped me to reframe the way I see the world, to learn the real value of the words compassion and kindness, to understand that I see the world as I am and not as it is. Thanks to them, I was able to grow, and now I can see the world differently.
