One Apple A Day #83
Mike scratches his left shoulder. The O-shaped scar on the top of his arm is itching under the t-shirt. When he was a kid, he hated the feeling. He remembers that once he even asked his dad if he can have it removed somehow. Foolish, but it was just a kid. Later on, he learned to listen to his scar. When it is itching like now, it means he is nervous because he’s not in control. And to be honest, there are better ways to spend your time on your eighteenth birthday. Instead, he is stuck in the waiting room of the school’s principal. Mary, the secretary, was waiting for him at the entrance. It was weird. At least, for the first time, the others noticed his presence. Sometimes he feels like if he is invisible. He can move around the school without crossing the eyes with anyone. Sometimes he feels alone, like if he doesn’t belong there. But sometimes it’s very useful, Joe and the others of the “gang” never picked on him like they do with the others nerds. There is only one girl who looks like she’s aware of him. A small brunette, with short hair and colourful t-shirts. But, they never talked so it may be just an illusion he built in his mind. Oh, and now there is Miss Mary who’s looking at him from her desk while he waits for the principal to call him.
