One Apple A Day #818 - Red Berries
Yesterday I was having one of my early morning walking conversations. I love to kick start the day with inspiring activities; the combo of walking outside and sharing ideas with like-hearted and like-minded people is one of my favourite practices. So, I walk and talk almost every morning.
Because I don't have woods or parks nearby, I walk back and forth in my garden or better, in the less than 50 meters driveway.
Yesterday I was sharing this space with my friends Luca and Mark and, as usual, we started with a recentering and grounding exercise to become fully present to the conversation.
Mark led us in this practice; after a few breaths, he invited us to stand still for a moment and look around us as we were seeing the surrounding for the first time.
I open my eyes, and I began to observe and pay attention to everything.
I saw the shades of yellow on the familiar tree in my garden, the irregular lines of bricks on the wall of a house in the distance.
And then I saw the red berries.
They were on a small tree on the neighbour's garden. I walked by that tree many times almost every morning.
Yet, I never noticed the red berries before.
And I can't help but wonder how many things I do not see because I'm too busy or too fast to pay attention.
