One Apple A Day #804 - chosen by me
Taking everything into consideration, to what extent you view the activities of your life as truly chosen by yourself?
I found this question in the Happiness Dashboard that I bought a while ago. Among the many measures in the dashboard, this one captured my attention this morning.
Maybe because I don't know how to respond.
Sure, some activities are a genuine choice of mine, like this morning practice of writing. In other cases, the activities are the natural consequences of choices made about a vision to pursuit or a cause to serve. So, I may not decide the actions in that case, but they are meaningful to me as they serve a vision I care about.
And then there are the things I do for love. In those cases, I may not decide the activity, but love gives meaning to it.
In all those cases, I feel great even if the activities I'm doing are not fully chosen by me.
Then there are activities there are chosen by me, yet they don't make me feel great. Like when I decide to waste time endlessly browsing on youtube.
So, to close this morning reflection, I believe all my activities are somehow chosen by me. Nobody is forcing me to do anything. But it's when I'd driven by purpose and love, that what I do becomes meaningful and energising.
