One Apple A Day #395
While talking with a very good friend, I had this insight.
In my family network, there are many widows but no widowers.
I did a quick search, and I found out that it is not just my perception.
In Italy, in the age between 55 and 75, the number of widows is almost five times bigger than the number of widowers.
I am no expert about the topic, but I see a recurring trait in the stories of the widows I know. They all did many different things in their life while their husbands did the same job for their whole life.
See, most of those widows have worked in factories, did the housewifes, raised kids, took care of their elders. All those things in one life.
They lived a life that required to be flexible and not being scared by changes. Because kids grow, house changes and so on.
And while those women were continually changing and adapting to the circumstances, their husbands were doing the same job, days in and days out.
What if the reason while men are more prone to die early is that they are trapped in their routines?
So, here’s my insight.
If you change often, you live longer.
I know, there is nothing scientific about it, but I think I’m going to keep changing in my life.
Just in case I am right.
