One Apple A Day #387
“Pain is inevitable; suffering is a choice”.
I read this sentence in a thriller book a while ago.
Short and powerful, indeed.
In the last month, this sentence popped up in my life quite often.
Maybe not in this form, but the idea is the same.
Pain is part of life.
Of your human nature.
It is a sensation.
Suffering is an emotion.
It is your unique experience of pain.
And it is a choice because it depends on your awareness.
But what is this choice about?
I think it is about choosing the meaning you give to that pain.
You can decide to suffer.
To give in to agony and drown in despair.
To take it as a punishment.
Or you can decide to learn.
To accept pain as a lesson and use it to grow.
I’m not saying that pain is great.
That you should seek pain to grow.
But when it happens, you can decide what to do with it.
Winston Churchill said, “never let a good crisis go to waste”.
I wish you to never waste the opportunity that comes with pain.
