One Apple A Day #381
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” — Heraclitus
This quote from Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher who lived 25 centuries ago, describes perfectly how I feel in this moment.
I am back to my life in Valencia after an intense journey.
I am back to the same flat I left almost three weeks ago.
I am back to the same girlfriend, the same cat, the same friends, the same roads.
Though, everything is different.
I am not the same man who left for the airport days ago.
It’s not just the time.
It’s the experience.
Everything we experience in life changes us.
We may be not aware of it, but we change.
Sometimes the change is subtle that it’s almost imperceptible.
But it’s there.
And because we see the world as we are and not as it is, our world changes too.
The same things are no more the same.
Everything is new.
And it is when we become aware of this, that life becomes an infinite source of wonder.
“There is nothing permanent except change.” — Heraclitus
