One Apple A Day #378
Presence.
How often are you fully present in what you do?
Me, not as much I would like to.
But does it mean to be present?
I found my own answer when I found about the Panchakoshas, or five sheaths while reading about Hinduism.
The Panchakoshas are the dimensions of the Self.
What I love about this concept from the very first moment is the idea that the self is made of layers, going from the deeper centre where the energy is sourced to the outer layer connecting us to the world.
And they are all interconnected.
The body, the mind, the lungs (breath), the heart (emotions), the soul (the spiritual self).
I visualise them as segments of a pipe connecting my inner universe to the outer universe, the world out there.
Presence is when all the layers are aligned on the here and now.
All the segments of the pipe are correctly in line so all our energy can flow freely into what we are doing.
Being a gearhead, I know how vital is to align all parts of an engine so the fluids can flow without dispersions. A small misalignment between any two components can severely deplete performances.
This is why being present can be the most potent resource to succeed in everything. When you are fully present, we can use your knowledge, our skills and your talents at their maximum.
So the question is, how do I align all the layers of myself?
