One Apple A Day #352
On July 4, 1776, the thirteen American colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence and declared themselves the United States of America. A new independent nation no longer part of the British Empire.
How many personal independence days do we have in our lives? Those days when we declared ourselves free from something on someone, and we become independent.
When we leave our parents to embrace our journey. When we pay the last instalment of the mortgage or when we finally are able to pay for our needs.
Our lives are interconnected. Everything we do affect the others, the one close to us but also people we’ll never meet or know. And we are affected by the actions of others.
But being dependent is something different. It means that we rely on or are controlled by someone or something else.
Children rely on their parents to survive and thrive.
But there are also the emotional dependencies that we create when we decide that our happiness relies on someone else.
So, today I’m asking myself; “Am I independent?”.
