One Apple A Day #349
Who are your heroes?
What makes them heroes in your eyes?
Is it what they did? Or who they were or are?
What characteristics do they have that inspire you?
I’ve been asked the questions above, and I’m still thinking about it.
It is more complicated than I thought. There are various human beings, both from the past and the present, real and fictional that I admire or I’m intrigued by. But to call someone a hero, there must be something more than admiration. There must be an energy, a vibration that compels me to be a better human being.
So, I’m scanning my life to identify my heroes. In doing this exercise, I realised that all my heroes have at least one thing in common.
At some point in their life, they surrender to something bigger than themselves, their bigger who. Even if they don’t know who this “who” is. Even if they don’t understand, they just surrender.
They aren’t smarter or stronger than the rest, they don’t have anything more than any other human being. But in surrendering to their nature, and at times it is hard and even painful, they allow their full potential to shine and make them heroes.
