One Apple A Day #330
“Kidfulness, remaining curious!”
This is one of my favourite “BeingTheChange” cards.
In the toddler period of our life, before the school, there is no distinction between learning and playing.
They are precisely the same thing.
When a toddler plays, she is learning.
Then, along with the education process, we develop the idea that learning and playing are two separate worlds.
Learning is tedious but necessary. Playing is fun but useless.
The distance between these two worlds grows broader with age and the school progress.
And we bring that separation with us when we start working.
Work vs Play.
Sometimes we may experience fun in our works, and there are strategies to gamify some tasks and activities.
But these are only bridges crossing the internal rift between work and play.
The Internet is full of programs and books to create life-work balance. As if work is something separate from life instead of being part of it.
Does it have to be like that?
I don’t think so. I don’t want.
I believe that working and playing can be the same thing.
Because it’s not about what you do.
It’s about how you do it.
Your mindset and your heartset.
