One Apple A Day #322
Last weekend I was discussing and reflecting on the best way to set up my business.
Rules and laws struggle to keep up with most of the new emerging professions. The problems are amplified by the fluid nature of most of these internet-enabled professions that transcend the boundaries of countries.
Anyway, after a lot of time spent thinking about the best form I should give to my business, the accountant said one thing that really hit me.
“First define your project, then we will find the right form.”
How often do you get trapped in the form or configuration of something at the point that you forget what the project was?
I do it quite often.
The configuration is the visible part, the one we can assess using our cognitive abilities, and we can measure. It is also the part on which we can apply models, strategies and best practices.
I’m not saying it isn’t important to define the right form. It is vital.
But the configuration must be sourced in the energy that creates it.
A configuration without energy is just an empty shell. It can be beautiful but it won’t serve us, and it will leave us unfulfilled.
Before creating the configuration, we must know where our energy is. What makes you feel alive? What makes you feel that your life has a meaning?
I know, it’s not easy. I used the verb “feeling”, something hard to measure. Yet, without being conscious of your energy, you won’t be able to sustain any configuration for long.
Energy before configuration.
