One Apple A Day #320
Get things done.
This is without doubts, one of my weaknesses.
The one that annoys me the most.
I have a very developed imagination.
I always had.
When I was a kid I was able to create an entire world, just with my thoughts.
And they felt real.
I could easily spend hours sitting in the garden and dreaming with my eyes open.
But that wasn’t what others were expecting from me.
There were things to do.
Things that require attention and focus.
Living with my head in the clouds wasn’t helping.
Growing up I did a few things, and I achieved some results.
Still, getting things done is tough for me.
The weird thing is that I have a strong work ethic.
If I start something, I’ll do my best to do it.
But first, I have to start.
So, maybe the problem is not getting things done.
Perhaps, it is getting things started.
But what does it mean to start something?
Because I started a lot of things that I never finished.
So, it’s not just starting.
It’s starting and pushing through the initial resistance until the momentum turns in my favour, and then things get done.
How do I do that?
So far, I managed to do it with this morning writing routine, with the morning exercises and few others things.
The common traits in my successes, lately, are the detachment from the outcome and the rituality of small actions repeated with consistency.
It looks like I have an answer.
Now I just need to understand what I want, how I can detach from the outcome and build a routine. But time is over for today, and this seems a good topic for one of next mornings.
