One Apple A Day #313
“An Invitation to Self Leadership”.
Without doubts, leadership has been and is one of the main buzzword in business and not only.
Every individual and organisation is or wants to be a leader.
There are plenty of books, courses, and programme to develop leadership in every context of our lives.
What is leadership, for you?
What does it mean to be a leader in your work, in your family, in your community, in the world?
Who is a leader?
According to the dictionary, leadership is “the action of leading a group of people or an organisation, or the ability to do this.”
Fair enough.
Let’s check leader then. A leader is “the person who leads or commands a group, organisation, or country.”
Ok, so the key is to lead.
The verb “to lead” has various meanings such as:
a : to guide on a way especially by going in advance
b : to direct on a course or in a direction
c : to serve as a channel for
Now it’s getting interesting.
These three definition talk about being an example, being inspired and being in service.
This is a definition I deeply relate to. Take one of my favourite example of leadership, Martin Luther King Jr.
He was an example risking his own life for what he believed.
He was able to see a better future and make it visible to everyone else.
He was entirely in service of the greater good.
So, what about today’s card?
To me, it’s an invitation to live my life as a leader. Being authentic and with integrity. Seeking creativity and inspiration and being in service to others.
