One Apple A Day #307
To shift or to change?
Lately, the word shift came out often in my wandering into personal transformation.
This morning, when I sit down to write this post, I picked a “Be The Change” card saying “A shift”.
This word again.
What does it mean to shift?
Is it the same as changing?
I did a quick, and admittedly not comprehensive, search on online dictionaries to check the different meanings of the two words.
To change: To become something different. To make something into something different.
To shift: To move from one place to another; to change position.
The meanings are very similar indeed, but shift also implies some kind of movement.
I love it this nuance.
It is important to change ourselves, to grow and become something different.
But sometimes what we need is a shift.
A change in position so we can see things from a different perspective.
Today I will look for opportunities to shift, even slightly but enough to observe the world from a different angle.
