One Apple A Day #297
I want!
I want to share something I learned yesterday.
I realised that my life is full of “I have to”, “I would like to”, “I must”, “I should”, “I could”.
But very few “I want”.
When I was a kid, I learned that saying “I want” was not polite.
A good boy does not “want something”. He asks if he can have something he likes.
This attitude stayed with me for a long time.
I avoided expressing what I wanted for so long that I lost clarity about what I want.
I am a very responsible person.
I care about others, and I do my best to keep my word and deliver what I promise.
I am very good at doing what I have to do.
But what “I have to” do is just what someone else wants.
What about what I want?
I can’t do what I have to do for myself if I don’t know what I want for myself.
Without clarity about where I want to go, I will never be able to take the first step.
This is what I learned yesterday.
And this is what I want to do from Today.
I want to re-programme my “wanting” muscle.
I want to want.
