One Apple A Day #279
“Being a caterpillar is truly being present to what is”.
Caterpillars grow fast. They have to change skin, a process called moulting, very often. And because they have soft bodies and are rich in proteins, many animals feed on them. They have to adapt quickly to change and be always present in the moment.
Change is part of life. It is inevitable. The circumstances around us change, and like the caterpillars, we change.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” - Heraclitus
There is nothing we can do about it. Even if we want we can’t stop the world and us from changing. Resisting is pointless.
But what happens when we stay with it? When we embrace it? If you try to swim against the flow, you will soon run out of energy and find yourself dragged by the current without any control. But if you embrace the flow, swim in it and use it in your favour, it will propel you forward at higher speed and with reduced effort.
This card remembered me the motto of my favourite fictional character when I was a kid, Captain Nemo.
“Mobilis in mobili”
Embrace the change, move amidst mobility, change in the changes.
