One Apple A Day #274
“Being creative with everything in my life”
Being creative is above all our ability to transform ideas into actions. To do so, we need both the ideas and the actions. Without idea is just executing a task. Without action, it is just dreaming. The word itself has the same roots of “create”. Being creative is about creating something.
I believe creativity must be trained like a muscle. If you don’t use it regularly, it going to lose its strength and, sometimes, become atrophic and painful. We need to train our creativity to create ideas and to create actions.
Unfortunately, our education system rewards action and suffocate ideas. In the end, current schools are a product of the Industrial Revolution. Their goal is to create factory workers.
But action alone is useless. So, we still need ideas. And the people with ideas are called creatives.
We decided that creativity is a talent. One that you have or not. And we stopped training it.
I am creative. Not because I am special. Because I am human. You are creative too. Incredibly creative.
We just need to retrain our creative muscle. And life is the best gym for that.
Being creative with everything in our life will awaken our creativity.
It won’t happen suddenly, but if you add to your life the habit of being creative you will open up to infinite possibilities.
It is easy. It starts with being curious. Look at something in your life and ask yourself “What can I do differently here?”. Then trust your intuition and do the first thing that comes to your mind.
Never underestimate the power of being creative even in the smallest of things, like turning left instead of right at the next cross.
