One Apple A Day #26
The first one was weird. He never had vacinations before; excluding the ones when he was so young he couldn’t remember. The injection in itself was nothing, he barely felt the needle. It was the dizziness of the following hours. It felt like one of those Thursday morning hangover; the one after you only had one pint to much at the after-office hangout.
Today it’s time for his third vaccination shot. Damn, this trip in Asia is really getting under his skin. Being honest, Billy really doesn’t care. They can inject him anything. He is leaving for his long planned backpacking adventure in the South East; He is way too excited. Five countries and five friends to share the journey with, one for each country. He has the whole sequence perfectly engraved in his mind; Paul, Thailand; Mia, Vietnam; Ella, Cambogia; John, Philippines; Sandy, Myanmar. Plus a potential last surprise in Sri Lanka.
This last one would be the cherry on the pie. A full month alone exploring the country cycling. This vaccination is the one required to enter Sri Lanka.
Billy is right. It will be the journey of his life. Only not for the reasons he has in mind.
The woman watches Billy until he disappears inside the clinic than she makes the call.
