One Apple A Day #242
“If you don’t know what to do, do something”.
I got this advice from a good friend a few months ago. It’s the advice she always gives to the people working with her when they are stuck on a project.
Sometimes I am so worried about doing the wrong thing that I don’t do anything. The problem is that staying still doesn’t bring me any more knowledge about what will work and what won’t. When the knowledge we have isn’t enough to decide what is the best action, the only option available is to do something. If we have no clue on what will work, then everything is a good option.
In my case, the tough part is getting over the idea of right and wrong.
As an example, think of this post.
I decided to write a post a day, and there are days when I have no idea about what to write. Like today.
So, I wasted precious minutes thinking about the right thing to write. But, because I allow myself only 15 minutes to write the post, time was running out.
So, I did something. I wrote.
Is it the best post possible? Maybe not. Does it serve its purpose? Yes. It helps me keep the momentum, and I practice my language skills.
Sometimes everything you need to do to get unstuck is just to do something.
