One Apple A Day #235
The day before.
Before a date, before a departure, before an exam.
The day before is full of excitement and fear.
Everything is still possible the day before an event.
When you start something, it is easier to be focused and present at the moment.
You are into something you wanted, and the whole experience takes over.
Somehow the experience itself protects you from doubts and fears.
But the day before, you are alone.
Whatever you are waiting for is not here yet. It is the moment when you realise that the future doesn’t exist. It’s only in your mind.
Often success or failure are defined at that moment.
Before the actual event or challenge.
When the fears whisper to your ears and create doubts.
At that moment you can create the confidence or break it.
I read somewhere that the best athletes experience their performances in their mind before doing it for real. And because the brain doesn’t distinguish between real and imagined experiences, the effect on their bodies is the same as if they did the actual performances.
Value your day before.
It is as important as the experience it anticipates.
