One Apple A Day #223
Torres del Paine, January 12th, 2017
Back in Cricchetta, we explore our options. All the camps in the park are fully booked, so we won’t be able to spend the night in the park as planned. It is also to let to hike to the best viewing point, admire the massif and come back on the same day.
The smartest thing to do would be to drive back to the nearest town, find a place for the night and prepare a better plan for the day after.
Because we deliberately decided at the beginning of the journey that we would be all but smart, we opt to wander with Cricchetta inside the park until we see something we like.
We slowly drive on a white road with a wind so powerful that it shakes Cricchetta at every turn. We manage to reach a small cafeteria on the shore of one of the lakes inside the park.
The wind is strong and cold while the coffee is strong and hot.
No match. We rejoin Cricchetta, and we drive with care until we find a sign pointing to a scenographic path.
It is worth a try even if it takes five minutes to open the door. The wind is so intense that is keeping us inside. But we are determined, and finally, we are on the path.
