One Apple A Day #208
The other evening my girlfriend and I decided to accept the invitation to a happening in a local workshop. The idea was to make some new friends, so we didn’t know what the event was about. But we knew one of the organisers and the location was in a borough we love and which we would like to move in.
We found ourselves among a mixture of people coming from different part of the world but all living in the area and sharing the interest in arts.
At some point, I was listening to a girl reciting her poems in the local language. I couldn’t understand a word, yet I sensed something while she was talking with such passion and grace.
Those feeling made me think about the power of art. Various studies proved that our brain is not a single entity, but it is made of different parts. One of the most exciting things is the fact that words are managed in a part of the brain while emotions in another. These two pieces are connected, obviously, but independent. So, you can’t talk to the limbic brain, the one managing emotions. While I was listening to that girl reciting her poems, I understand that art can talk to our limbic brain. It can transcend words and logic and hit a deeper level.
This is why art is so powerful.
