One Apple A Day #204
near Torres del Paine, January 12th, 2017
What a day we just had. To be honest, all days so far have been magical, each one in a unique way. People, nature, roads, scenarios, animals. We feel like if everything around us is doing its best to make our experience memorable.
We started very early this morning. So early we didn’t have the time to meet the owners, so we left the money on the table and before the dawn we were on the road to the Perito Moreno.
We were so excited at the idea of walking over one of the biggest glaciers in the world that we arrived almost one hour before the departure of the boat that was going to take us before the ice.
The more we got nearer the glacier, the more we were captured by its majesty. The incredible wall of white ice before us was daunting. Later on, our guides told us that what is visible was only a small part of the front of the glacier. The higher part is under water.
When we arrived, they split us into two groups depending on the language; English or Spanish. We naturally opted for the Spanish team.
They gave us the crampons to walk on the ice, and they explained us the right way to walk with them to avoid falling or breaking our pants. In the name of science, we made some test so we can assure you that is better to follow the instructions.
With all the gears in place and our broken trousers, it was time to walk over the glacier.
