One Apple A Day #199
On the road to El Calafate, January 11th, 2017
The distance between El Chaltén and El Calafate, our next stop, is about 200 kilometres. It is funny how such distance was a proper trip for us only a week ago. Now it’s nothing more than going out to buy some groceries at the local store.
The power of perception. In Patagonia, everything is so vast that we redefined our idea of space and time.
Unfortunately, we left late from El Chaltén, so we were only halfway when the hunger hit. We are in the middle of nowhere. Not the smallest of town in sight, let alone a restaurant.
But, remember, we are adventurers. So we found a place along the road to park the car and prepare our lunch.
So, here we are, hiding between some bushes and what looks like an abandoned shack for horses. We are Italian, so naturally, we are making pasta. Or at least we are trying. The wind blows strong, apparently from every possible direction, so no shelter is sufficient.
The water has been heating for half an hour, but finally, we managed to throw in the pasta, and we are almost ready for our first lunch in the open. Pasta with tuna on the Ruta40.
