One Apple A Day #198
Somewhere between El Chaltén and El Calafate, January 11th, 2017
The day started perfectly.
We slept like babies in our comfortable room. Then, we woke up and had a filling breakfast. And when we left the hotel a beautiful sunny blue sky welcomed us outside.
The day had the taste and smell of a gorgeous one.
The plan was to leave El Chaltén to head South, but we couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to the Fitz Roy, not on a sunny day like this.
According to the signs, the hike to the “mirador”, the viewing point for the Fitz Roy, took only two hours.
Easy peasy for two well-trained adventurers like us.
We reached the “Mirador” in two hours and 15 minutes and, obviously, there were already dozens of people who had the same idea.
But we are experienced adventurers, so we climbed a small rock just beside the main viewing point and found the perfect spot to admire the Fitz Roy.
What a magnificent mountain. The Fitz Roy is just perfect in shape, colour. Everything. It is the mountain.
We had just the time to take two pictures before someone spotted us. In a while, our rock was crowded with people taking pictures of the mountain. We felt as we were the perfect Italian trendsetters.
We would spend hours with the Fitz Roy but the South was calling, and it was time to go.
Before midday, we were back on the road with Cricchetta, direction El Calafate with the Fitz Roy disappearing behind us.
