One Apple A Day #179
Cueva de las Manos, January 8th, 2017
To arrive at Cueva de las Manos from Perito Moreno, where we had our quick stop to refill Crichetta, we added other 100 kilometres of white road. We are getting used to it, and every time it is funnier. We hope Crichetta won’t let us down at some point.
Cueva de las Manos is on our bucket list so, we had some expectations coming here. To be honest, when we arrived at the location the place doesn’t live up to the idea we had. Two small wooden building and lot of elderly tourists welcomed us when we parked the truck. In the beginning, we thought we were in the wrong place. But here we are, ready to visit Cueva de las Manos and its famous rock paintings. We are ready, but the Cueva is not. We have to wait for our turn, so we decide to walk down to the valley below and check the Río Pintor. “Pintor” means painter and it gets its name because the primitives get the colours they used for their painting from this river.
There’s nothing much to see or do so we spend some time playing with our drone. We almost lose it against the side of the mountain, so we think it is wise to let it rests, and we go seeking something for lunch.
The big news is that we don’t drink beer but water. It goes perfectly with the unsavoury crackers with paté de foie that was the only unsweetened things available.
We are adventurers.
With a bad taste of something dying in our mouths, we join the rest of the group. It is our turn to visit the paintings.
